The ARO/WSO Refresher Course

The Australian Airports Association has created a detailed and interactive online refresher course for those Aerodrome Reporting Officers and Works Safety Officers who seek to maintain their knowledge and skills in the performance of their duties.  The package includes a range of activities and video tutorials that enable ARO/WSO’s to refresh their knowledge to ensure that the aerodrome operates in a safe manner.

Expected time to complete course: Six (6) hours

Enrolment fee: $440

Prices are GST inclusive

Enrolment valid for: Two (2) months from time of first logon

Recognition: Certificate of Completion

Target Audience

The Australian Airports Association ARO/WSO Refresher course is recommended for those persons who have previously completed a full ARO/WSO course and require an updated or need to refresh their knowledge to maintain currency as an ARO/WSO.

The course is intended to enable the attendee to meet the requirements of CASA Advisory Circular 139-13(0) Training of Aerodrome Reporting Officers and Works Safety Officers 2011.


The Australian Airports Association ARO/WSO Refresher course covers the following modules:

  1. The Legal Framework, Aerodrome Documentation, Roles and Responsibilities
  2. Airside Safety, Airside Facilities, Lighting and Markings
  3. Airside Driving, the Obstacle Limitation Surface, and NOTAM
  4. Wildlife Hazard Management
  5. Aerodrome Emergency Response and Security
  6. Aerodrome Serviceability Inspections
